POETRY

I walked into the room (presence) art objects within (vicinity). What (who) makes the party (opening) of gifts I (present) to you (success)? Exiting (space), my legacy lingers (aura), distancing. Captured (curiosity) I bring you. What do I want my work to do (next)? Does it move out of the studio (game over)?

You have always done such a good job creating poetic titles for your pieces. I am intrigued by the idea of having a poetic companion for your thesis work. You are, after all, citing ancient Greek traditions of education and mathematics…why not incorporate a literary element? The epic poetry of the Greeks are some of the earliest and most prolific stories that have defined literature throughout history. You are specifically discussing Plato and the allegory of the cave, along with Platonic solids to generate forms. Additionally, the surface treatments of Greek amphoras were used to tell stories (Achilles and Ajax, Odysseus Blinding Polyphemos, Perseus Slaying Medusa, etc.) The inclusion of a third discipline (writing, poetry, and literature) from this heritage might strengthen your overall theme, and gives you more of an opportunity to work in ways that comes naturally to you.
